plundered. 34 When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. 35 Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
The King Who Exalts Himself
"... some who are most gifted in the things of God will
stumble in those days and fall, but this will only refine and cleanse
them and make them pure until the final end
of all their trials,
at God's appointed time.
The king will do exactly as he pleases, claiming to be greater than every god
there is, even blaspheming the God of god's, and prospering -- until this time is up.
For God's plans are unshakable. He will have no regard for the gods
of his gathers nor the god beloved of women, nor any other god
for he will boast that he is greater than them all. Instead of these
he will worship the Fortress god!"

2 And many of those whose bodies lie dead and buried
will rise up, some to everlasting life and some to shame
and everlasting contempt.
3 And those who are wise -- the people of God --
shall shine as brightly as the sun's brilliance, and
those who
turn many to righteousness will glitter like stars forever.
4 But Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal it up so that I will not
be understood until the end times, when travel and education
shall be vastly increased.
5 Then I, Daniel, looked and saw two men on each
side of the river.
6 And one them asked the man in linen robes who
was standing now above the river, "How long
it be until all these terrors end?"
7 He replied, with both hands lifted to heaven,
taking oath by him who lives forever and ever,
that they will not end until three and a half
years after the power of God's people has been crushed.
8 I heard what he said but I didn't under stand what
he meant, so I said, Sir, how will this all come out.
9 But he said, Go now, Daniel, for what I have said
is not to be understood until the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified by great trials and
persecutions. But the wicked shall continue in
their wickedness, and none of them will understand.
Only those who are willing to learn will know what
it means.
11 "From the time the daily sacrifice is taken away
and the Horrible Thing is set up to be worshipped,
there will be 1,290 days.
12 And, blessed are those who wait and remain until
the 1335th day!
13 But go on now to the end of your life and your
rest; for you will rise again and have your full share
of those last days."
36 "The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place. 37 He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the one desired by women, nor will he regard any god, but will exalt himself above them all. 38 Instead of them, he will honor a god of fortresses
